Caps result because crappy manufacturers make assumptions about the SD cards and eventually those assumptions break down as the size of the cards exponentially increases. E.g. if when I designed the slot all there was on the marked were 8MB cards the firmware/software will probably explode if I try to use it with a 8GB card.
